Toothbrush Timer
When your child’s first tooth appears, begin brushing with water. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends introducing fluoride toothpaste at the age of 1. We recommend using a rice-grain amount of toothpaste if your child does not know how to spit. When your child is able to spit consistently, you can then add a pea-size amount of toothpaste on their toothbrush. By the age of 8, your child should be brushing their teeth independently. Teach your child to spend 30 seconds in each quadrant, making sure to brush the front, back, top, and sides of each tooth. The above video can be used to help your child gauge the amount of time they should spend brushing their teeth.
